I agree with you, but shouldn’t they anticipate problems like that due to the nature of that fabric? And they are pros, aren’t they? I would, and I am no seamstress nor a pro, I do have however some knowledge of fabrics, amateur knowledge tho…No one would want a dress that bunches when one walks…imagine the thing would gather around your feet and that would be one nasty fall. Or you could kick it when you walk…but imagine the effort… lol

Certainly, but not bravo to that talentless Virginie woman who recommended the panne. And why didn’t they just remove the train? Lateral trains are impossible anyway.

I would’ve cried if a dress that I hand-sewed was to just be scrapped away liked that… I happened to scrap an entire dress because it was completely a wrong fabric (sort of like the situation with the velour), and I used a sewing machine, and it was a very sad moment. Imagine hand-sewing it! You must’ve get very attached to that garment… But nevertheless barvo Karl to keep the perfection alive!

i just love those shoes, oh! and I love the setting, the film perfectly captures the fresh mix of the old, chic style of chanel with the fresh, exciting, new , innovative ideas of Lagerfeld. And Paris, it looks so refreshing!

  23. 23 nonprofitgirl said at 12:25 am on August 29th, 2010:

Her reaction is that of a true professional. Wow. She says, “But the new one will surely be just as pretty.” I don’t think Karl was being rude at all, either. It’s a business, nothing personal. She has the experience and grace to roll with the punches.

  24. 24 pascha120 said at 1:07 am on August 29th, 2010:

What a passionate team he has, and so touching to see Laurence’s reaction to the Panne dress being scrapped.

I don’t think Karl was being rude. I think he expects perfection because he’s dedicated to his work and there is a lot of money riding on each collection. Why waste all that time, money and effort on 90% when you can give 100%? Also don’t forget that he designs for other houses as well as Chanel, that is a lot of pressure!

    Me, too. He’s a genius.
