Love It or Leave It: Chanel Lambskin Tote with Exterior Pocket

I’m guessing it is a bad sign if the first thought I had when I saw this Chanel bag was “this reminds me of the Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag…“. While I know the amount of work that went into that LV bag was immense, it simply was a bag that made no sense to me. And clearly Marc Jacobs was loving the idea of bags attached to bags, because he implemented it on a namesake bag as well. And now Chanel is kind of doing it, obviously much less than the Louis Vuitton bag, but there is an exterior pocket that looks like an additional bag attached to the front.

I must give the Chanel Lambskin Tote with its exterior pocket credit, it is leaps and bounds more subdued and gorgeous than the Louis Vuitton bag I mentioned above. But I simply can not find myself wanting a bag that looks like it has scrap parts of an additional bag glued on the front. This Chanel bag is however created with luscious black lambskin and has an odd way of flowing together and making the outside flap pocket be usable. While it is not for me, I almost feel this one little part of me thinking it might work. Inquire more via Chanel.

    I usually love Chanel…but this bag is a monstrosity, I’m sorry to say.
    It is unbelievably ugly. :-(

    I love Chanel…but they should really stick to what they do best.This bag is so off the wall…aside from the tortured flap bag that appears to be half sewn to the front, i would have never guessed it was a Chanel.(LEAVE IT)

    To me it looks like they are trying to make the Chanel version of the Louis Vuitton patchwork bag in most aspects. Sorry if some of you already said this, I’m on my phone and it takes to long to read through all of them ;p

    Bottega is also doing a couple of these this season and they are, in my humble opinion, just as silly and unattractive. To me, they look cheap. They are just beneath houses like these.

    Its nice to see Chanel copy Marc for once as its usually the other way round. At least Marc has the sense to copy Chanel’s most iconic bags whereas Chanel chose Marc’s most detested creation to emulate.

    I voted, “Love it” although I only “Like it”. The reason that it got my attention is that it’s different for Chanel. I’ve had the “classic” Chanels since my first bag, back in the mid 80s, bought at the rue Cambon boutique in Paris. So, I’ve been around a long time and kind of have the, “Been there, done that” syndrome. The classic bags aren’t going anywhere. They’ll always be around. Time for something hip in addition to the classic bags.
