Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 Handbags

When we covered the runway debut of the Chanel Spring/Summer 2010 Handbags back in October, reviews were mixed. Some people appreciated the slightly barnyard feel of the collection, others thought it wasn’t luxurious or sophisticated enough for the Chanel customer.
As time has passed, my opinion has softened a bit. They didn’t go as straw-heavy on the bags that made it to retail, and several of the non-straw bags are totally lovely. My personal favorite is the watercolored Classic Flap Bag, which would look utterly elegant with a variety of summer wardrobe options.
On the downside, they’re apparently still trying to make those puffy Coco Cocoon bags happen; I was really wishing that they were going to be a one-season experiment, what with their startling resemblance to trash bags. As for the straw bags that dot the collection, they’re very taste-specific, but I could see some of the more subdued version working quite well with summery white linen or various bright colors for contrast. We’ve got pictures of all the bags, after the jump.

I appreciate that Chanel is trying to experiment with its classic brand, however, I feel if your going to experiment go away from the classic accents to the bags. Have the back facing C’s used in a different way, maybe not so front and center. Don’t use the traditional flap bag with lackluster fabrics. I think the only one’s I like are: Chanel 14, my favorite is Chanel 2, I love the green color in Chanel 3, and I liked Chanel 6. The other bags I am not a fan on because they don’t look particularly nice to hold. When I buy a bag texture is one of the most important factors. (fb)
I’m in love with that green one…usually I wouldn’t like poofy…but the green is TOO gorgeous. (fb)
Not in love with these
Some are cute, but I would rather have a classic Chanel. (fb)
In absolute love with these color combos! (fb)
oh and the green one it’s not bad! (fb)
i like the watercolor one..but i guess the price is a bit steep for me..
The watercolor bag, “Chanel 14″ is a nice style, I wish it came in other colors. It looks too red, white and blue. (fb)
Agreed, that crochet bag is hideous and the straw bags have limited allure. I actually quite like picture, “Chanel 8,” but I won’t be spending $2K on it. I would stick with a classic jumbo flap. And what’s the matter with picture, “Chanel 5?” That indent makes the bag look like a rear end with a flap.
It pains to me to say this, because I do love a classic Chanel, but… eww. (fb)
I don’t know. The one labeled Channel 11 I might carry, depending on the actual size, but the rest look kind of… well, cheap. (fb)
Not for me…(fb)
Not for me….
I actually like all of them. They’re refreshing, and the designs are nice. (fb)
I’m not totally inlove with these chanel bags. Most are ugly. (fb)
I think Gabrielle would be pleased ‘(fb)’
I like a couple of them for a casual spring look. However I would not pay the same price for them as the classic Chanel bags. (FB)
These designs are certainly surprising! I am actually quite fond of the last bag – it must be the country girl in me! (fb)
Most of them are too fancy, I feel they will look outdated after a short while.(fb)
