I rented this book out from the library hoping to learn more about the steps taken to create a perfume. Unfortunately, the information is low compared with the amount of time that the author spends on the history of perfume. The chapter on essential oils is excellent and offers a fine introduction. The section on the business of fragrance is minimal. The author writes well and the information is easy. Rating: 3 / 5

The information presented in this book is amazing in its scope and depth. Stories usually leave me bored with something, but I was totally impressed by how unusual yet thorough Morris presented the information. It is not intended to be a how-to manual. The history of words in the title should tell you that. If you just want to know how to make perfume, soap, candles, etc. and do not want to be informed about your product then this is not for you. Personally, I found fascinating. Rating: 5 / 5
