    Egoista, dove sei?
    Egoista!

Yes, the first few words are from Pierre Corneille in “Le Cid” (1636).

    “Ô rage ! Ô désespoir ! Ô vieillesse ennemie !
N’ai-je donc tant vécu que pour cette infamie ?”

They made a few changes for the commercial.

Fantastic ad. Chanel should go back to the dramatic, iconic ads instead of sticking with the new featurette, ridiculous, celebrity filled ones. These old ads really convey the sophistication of Chanel whereas the new ones convey the tacky, celebrity obsessed mindsets of any and every mediocre fashion house. Back to the good old days of cigarettes, courvoisier and black please.

it should be exactly the same as these on youtube except the male voiceover is ‘chanel, for a man’ instead of ‘pour l’homme’..

if you have this english version I would be grateful to see it up here on youtube..or if you could somehow send it me i seem to remember they kept the original french girls’ french text in the end and just dubbed my two little lines over,

Yeah I love the ad too. The piece of music is by Prokofiev – Dance of the Knights. I don’t know what the french lyrics are, but Egoiste means selfish.

  23. 23 Pfalzgreven said at 10:15 pm on January 20th, 2010:

    You are THE MAN!!!
I’ve been trying to identify this piece since I first heard it in ”Caligula’ some 10 years ago!

    THANK YOU!!!

This perfume has been my signatur sent for ages now, but I just resently found this commercial.

PLEASE IDENTIFY THIS PIECE OF MUSIC!

I have been watching the clip close to a hundred times now, it’s fucking amazing.
Is it really Le Cid by Pierre Corneille?!

Is the French lyrics Chanel’s work, or are the lyrics original?!

Ô Rage! Ô Désespoir! Ô mon amour trahi!

    BRILLIANT!
